So I own two HI khukris. Years ago I forgot what the smaller one in the picture is and started a thread about that. I did indeed forget what the smaller one is too but luckily the user control panel saves all threads. So I know the smaller one is a kothimoda bilton. Can anyone tell exactly what model the bigger one is? The initials are KM, and it has the initials to commemorate Uncle Bill on the other side.

I've got a stupid question for Karda. When is Sirupate correct vs. Sirupati? I don't speak the language so am just trying to pick up a little knowledge.

When is Sirupate correct vs. Sirupati?

I got confused as well when someone mentioned Vojpuri, Vojpure, Bhojpure....and the biggest of all....Khukoree, Kukri, Khukri, khukuri..

Tomay-toes- tomah-toes i guess......
Darned if i really know. Beoram is our resident linguistics expert.
The only language i'm fluent in is English.

let us not forget that nepal does not use the western latin alphabet, the words we write in english are transliterations from the phonetic sounds we hear when they name the object. thus there are many alternate spellings when western characters are used. there are also slight regional and social differences. all are correct - none are correct. the nepali characters used for writing down what our favourite bent knives are nominally called are the symbols खुकुरी

kukri, khukri, khukuri are all correct. most of us agree that 'khukuri' is closest.

I agree with the others, looks like a nice Sirupati. How long is it?

I'm guessing 20" and about 27-29 oz. :D Very pretty knife.

My 20" Sirupati made by Bura (Lisa) is 24oz and feels wonderfull in my hands. Almost sword like. This reminds me, I should pull my 15" Horn handled Sirupati out of storage and put it to use. It has taisted more water bottles then anything else.

BTW A Sirupati (normally 15" though sometimes bigger) has been my backpacking knife for years. And thats likely not going to change any time soon.

Agree with you pal! It's just about the size of my 20" Bura made Sirupati

The 25" Bura made Sirupati looks pretty much like a medium size sword

That's very nice old school stuff there mohd. If it wasn't for the Sirupate blade on that 20" I would have called it a Chitlangi because of the handle. I have a Sgt. Khakda WWII with a Chitlangi handle, and the extra pommel swell really makes it comfortable. (Plus you have a tooled leather scabbard for it? Never scored one of those on an HI; nice!)

I like those rock hard old satisal handles you have there that you often see on the older knives.

Thanks for sharing.
