Need help identifying a possible counterfeit 110

Hey guys, I recently received a Buck 110 as an early Christmas gift from my bother and after much research, believe it is in fact a counterfeit. The blade came off centered out of the box and is almost rubbing against the liner. What's confusing to me is the tang stamp which appears to be an anvil with the number 50 inside. I looked up a bunch of 110 pictures and have still not come across one resembling mine. Other then these two flaws the fit and finish is perfect with a good solid lockup. The knife was bought at a local Big 5 so I might just go down and take a look at their other ones. I wanted to know if any of you have come across a 110 stamped like this. Thanks guys and Merry Christmas :D!

I know Big 5 started to carry Buck knives, but that one looks fake to me. I have never seen that blade stamp before.

Thanks for the reply man, i checked your link and my 110's stamp matches the one in that picture but mine does not have the medallion on the side

Sounds like they put one of the 50th anniversary blades in a 2013 model 110 frame.
They could have run out of 2013 stamped blades, but still had some 2013 frames to use up.
Apparently all four 2014 anniversary edition 110's will get blades with that stamp.
Buck has been known to do such things :)
It would be cool to find out how many came out of the factory like that.

I sure like the 50 anvil stamp. I just might "need" one of those 4th edition ones that will be around later in the year.

Thanks for all the help man. It sure did put my mind at ease :)! I'm gonna go down to the store tomorrow and swap it out for one with a centered blade. I'll check to see what their other ones are like.

bigger question would be whats its country of origin?
Buck got pretty iffy there in the late '90's in my opinion
I have my dad's old 110 that I have had in my possession since
the mid 80's and the new ones just do not compare

Yes, they do such things. I have 2002 100th anniversary 110's with and without the medallion on the handle.
Personally I think some impish person in production does it on purpose just to throw us a bone.... ;)

To the original post... That is a legit Buck from what I can see. I got the exact same knife the other day, DIRECTLY FROM BUCK, and mine has the same stamp as yours. Mine is centered perfectly though. I was shocked to not see any "BUCK" stamp on the blade... Just on the leather sheath.

P.S. The barcode sticker on my box says "12/06/2013"

I went back and swapped it for a 2013 version because I didn't like the fact that there was no actual Buck labeling on the knife. The barcode on my box was 11/09/2013. I guess someone was just slacking that day :D

Yeah, the knife definitely needs a "Buck" on it somewhere. I hope Buck is listening. Oh well. I'm keeping mine. I know what it is :)

It's the atypical marking that makes this knife special. Alternative tang marks always make the knife more desireable down the road. Just look at 2002, 2005, or even the BCCI stamps. There is no question this knife is a Buck and would never be identified as anything else.... bad move to trade it back in for a 2013 simply because the word BUCK does not appear on it......

Take a look at the centering of the blade. I doubt it'll be rare in the future as this seems common. Half of Big 5's stock had the same tang stamp when I went to swap mine out.

DeSotoSky has a good point about that knife being a bit more desirable for collectors down the road since it's not a normal production version, even if there were a bunch on the shelf. That said, if you plan on using it then it makes no difference. As long as your happy with your new exchanged knife that's all that matter. Enjoy!
