With the past year I believe it was a well known knife maker that released an item I am trying to locate but can't. It was perhaps a 4-5 inch long cylinder, probably made of titanium, that unscrewed at one end and a spike would be removed, flipped 180 degrees and then the base of the spike is screwed back into the cylinder, which now becomes the handle. It was a nicely machined piece that I want to explore further but I can't recall its name or who made it. I've asked AI for help with no luck. I am hoping there is a person who is smarter than AI who can help! ;-) and point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any assistance you might be able to offer.

Sounds like the kind of thing Bastinelli makes from time to time, although I don't recall seeing any that unscrewed.

Try searching "Bastinelli ventilation spike".

I imagine there are a number of such items that match your description. One example below. Titanium handle, the spike unscrews from inside the handle to be screwed back into the handle point-out. Alpha Design is the maker of this one, they make a variety of similar designs.

Spike length- 5". Overall assembled length (spike installed point-out)- 11".

Crawford push-pick is the granddaddy of these, he did a few in titanium over the years -
.

Some makers sold similar as mine probes during the early years of GWOT.

Look up stick, tube or baton knife.

Also check the laws in your state if you plan on buying one.

Thanks all for your input, but still not what I was picturing. I may have to spend some time looking over all my knife bookmarks, and I have ALOT!

Any chance it could be this -

.

They've been out for the past few months.

Maratac makes a small toothpick one. Other than that I can't think of much of a use for these spikes, and they can't be made very inexpensively because the form factor necessitates ground material and Swiss lathes.
