Hi Guys,

I one again need your help.

Back in 1997, shortly before my first trip to Ireland, I bought a large Victorinox with locking blade. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the knife. It looks like an Ourider, but inplace of the Philips head screwdriver my Vic has a small blade.

Does anybody know the name of my SAK?

Thanks in advance.

I checked sakwiki, but couldn't find your knife. In fact, I couldn't find any 111mm model with a pen blade.

OK thanks.

Maybe I should've explained that I don't have the knife any more and that I'm trying to get a replacement. The small blade was from memory, but maybe I remembered incorrectly. But I'm absolutely sure that my SAK didn't have a Philips head.

I just send an E-Mail to Victorinox asking them about the model name. Now it's "wait and see"...

From my E-Mail history I could reconstruct some of the history of my SAK. Back in 2006 I had to send it to Victorinox because of a problem with the pivot of the main blade (too much force requiered for opening and closing of the blade and a very noticable scratching noice while opening/closing). What I got back from Victorinox was spotless. They either completely rebuild the knife or sent me a new one.

Unfortunately I lost the knife a couple of years later.

The Outrider was originally produced without the Phillips head (nothing in its place). It's also entirely possible that the knife you remember existed, since wikis and google searches are hardly definitive.

If I were you, I'd just get an Outrider, if it's the knife you want. The small blade on SAK always seemed extraneous to me, since the main blade is thin enough.

The only smaller than normal blade I have seen on a 111mm is the gut blade on the Hunter model. The phillips head is sort of hidden under the scissors (I think) on that model above. Also I don't recall scissors on a 111mm model as far back as the 90s.
