I picked up this knife at a local auction for what I felt was a really good price for an older knife that needed some love/care. Posted up some pics of it a few months back in the maintenance forums to get some help on cleaning. I have since soaked it in mineral oil and rubbed it down good and probably have it halfway to what I would call "usable" condition.

I havent been able to do anything on it in a while (altho I plan to do some more with it this weekend) and I havent gotten updated pics yet but I was wondering if anyone here could possibly help me with the model and rough time frame as to when it was made. I will try and get some updated pics tonight

Thanks,
JD

It looks to me like a Schrade 881. Long pull. Delrin scales. Jigged. Square bolsters. 4inches closed I'm guessing? If so then it should be an 881.

looks to me like an 881 also, if you clean the area at the base (tang) of the main blade you should be able to read it more clearly. The main blade has been severly modified though. Take a look at the link as to how the knife looked originally. Late 80's I would say looking at the later type tang stamp lettering. could be into the 90's if it came from from a special edition collectors tin. Earlier would be my guess though.

That most definitely looks like it. I will probably know a little more when I get to work on it this weekend. I may wait on posting pics until I get it finished up.

Thanks for the info!!
