Need Help Identifying Case Stockman

We found this Case stockman amongst my father’s belongings this week. It looks like it might be a 6392 from 1920-1940, which would likely have been my grandfather’s knife. However I don’t know when that pattern was manufactured.

The tang stamp is Case Tested XX but I don’t see a pattern number. The shield is a pinned Case shield that looks to be from 1920-1940 as well. Length is just shy of 4”, maybe a hair longer than 3 7/8”. Knife feels great in the hand but the walk and talk is gone. It seems to be gummed up.

Can anyone help ID this knife?

Thanks!

What a great heirloom to have!
A well used knife is a well loved knife.
Agree with above. Thanks for sharing.

Wow thanks guys for the responses! Yeah it’s pretty exciting actually. I can’t believe I never asked my Dad whether he had any old pocket knives. He always carried a knife but they were always inexpensive beaters. This one was tucked away in a box.

Blades have seen long service and sharpening:D Nice worn smooth bone too:thumbsup:

You might try washing it out with hot water&soap, drying, flushing with a bit of WD 40 and oil the joints. Could well improve the W&T of this old gent, a fine item to have:cool:

I ended up spending the day cleaning this guy up. I used soap and water, a toothbrush, and a few toothpicks to remove all the gunk. Dried it really well using my air compressor, and then oiled the joints. While I was at it, I put new edges on all three blades. They sharpened up pretty well but I removed a little more metal than intended on the clip.

Amazingly, they all have good walk and talk. The sheepsfoot and spey both snap closed strong. The clip is still a little light but it does snap open and shut.

Great way to spend a Saturday!

I'm thinking this is a 6393 and not a 6392 because of the long pull on the clip and the big back springs. I've attached a pic of the back springs below. The bigger one is the 6392 (or 6393) and it is next to a 6332 for comparison. The 2nd pic is the cleaned up and sharpened knife.
