Hi all,

I am brand new to this forum. I plan to stick around and pay attention. HOwever what brought me here is a favor a friend asked of me. He was gifted a katana from a Marine vet that claims that this katana was taken from Iwo Jima during the fight. What I need help with is the kanji on the hilt translated, so I can find out who the maker is. Also there seems to be some red wax/paint markings on the hilt as well.

Any information woudl be great!!! I can provide more pics if need be.

dust it with baby powder, then wiper off the extra so it makes the signature stand out better.
take a closer pic and go over to the nihonto forum- those guys are most excellent at reading them.:)
