I am quite new to all of this but I recently found 2 old ax heads in my fathers basement, one I have identified as a Woodings Verona (US96) but the other I am having quite a hard time with so if anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Looks like a Council tool axe. You need a new axe my friend.

Hate to say it but he's right. It might be the photo but it looks like that area was also sanded out but that wasn't going to work.

Dull the leading edge and you've got a cool door stop though

Grind down to sound metal, preheat & tig weld back to flush or 1/16" above. Sand flush and anneal to soft. Reheat and quench, then temper to suit. :frog:

It is easily replaced as an axe for use. Ornamental value yes, but not safe to use as is now.
