Need help identifying markings

Hello everyone,

I picked up an old Griffith Tool Works hatchet yesterday (Griffith was originally Germantown Tool Works -GTW) and I'm hoping to find out a little more abut it. It has some interesting markings on both sides of the head. Hopefully someone here can ID the markings.
