Hey guys my dad wants me to sharpen this buck knife for him. So I wanted to find out what model it is?? Also what steel it came with so I can figure out what angle to reprofile it to? And I know my dad wont ever sharpen it pretty much unless I do it now so whats the most durable angle for this steel?

Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it.

Hard to tell from the picture, most bucks are 420HC, and come with a very fine edge from the factory. That model I think may have come in both 420 and a more expensive ats34 version, most likely 420 though. Either steel will take a very fine edge, more importantly what he tends to do with it will determine the best angle. Cutting clean cardboard, string, or plastic packaging material will be best with the thinnest edge you can put on it, if it's used to pry staples off boxes and bags of concrete you should put an appropriately thicker edge to prevent premature damage and wear.

Yeah im sorry for the bad pictures they were taken with my cell phone. I cant find any batteries for my actual camera. Yeah he'll just be doing the general stuff with it cutting cardboard, letters, and plastic packaging stuff like that. I'll probably go with a 15 degree edge. See how well it holds up. I can always put a microbevel on it later if it doesnt hold up well.
