Looking for info on blades(specifically a bowie I am being offered) with a makers mark of JML. I have seen one other knife with this mark on ebay a while back.Really nice looking work, but I can't seem to track down who made them or any other info about him or age/values of his work.If anybody should be able to shed light on this little mystery it will be the members of BF,so I ask for your help. See pics of the bowie I am being offered and the smaller custom I found on ebay and let go a while back. Thanks guys!

I did some searching through an Annual (1992 this looks about that era, no later.)

The mark, to me, looks like a 'J Mc L' in stylish letters. Especially on the fighter?

Only maker who fits this is James McLeod, but his profile recognizes he makes Scottish-styled knives.

Anyway, I tried. :)

Thanks for the info Coop. It's a start.Let's see if anyone else can nail it down or add more to it.The closest I ever got was a vague reference to a maker with a JML mark from the Boone,NC area, but could never get any further.I did run across a pic of an old blade with a stamped JML mark that was a capital J and L joined in the at the tops by a lowercase v to form the M JvL,but as this didn't match, and was yet another dead end, that's where it sits. This bowie speaks to me and is the second time I've run across this makers work in less than a year and wanted them both.Lost the smaller blade on ebay and have a trade working for the bowie so I'm going to take it and roll the dice.Could be a complete unknown but whoever he is,he does nice looking work.Hope we can solve this little puzzle and shed some light on this maker. When the bowie comes in I'll put up a full pictorial that will hopefully help the i.d. Thanks again!
