I was hoping someone could help me. I have just gotten the knife bug. I have a Sak about 15-20 years old that I would like identified with a model name and # if possible The knife looks exactly like the current Deluxe Tinker Model #VN53481 EXCEPT it does not have the parcel carrying hook on the back side. It also came with a brown leather carrying case, which I still have. The unit has seen very little usage and was rarely carried.

Front Side:
Large knife, small knife, Pliers, scissors, bottle cap opener, can opener. (6)

Back side: Reamer, Phillips screw. (2)

Of course it has the key chain holder, toothpick and tweezers.

The case is red in color.

Any help would be apprectiated. Or if you have any idea of a website that may be able to identifly older knives I would appreciate the link.

I do know that the parcel hook was added to the back of SAKs that have scissors I think in 1991 (Vincent can tell you for sure, or you can do a search for one of his posts). I have a SwissChamp from 1986 and an even earlier Explorer, both of which do not have the hook.

I'm sure that's an early Deluxe Tinker. I have one w/o the hook. Like Gatch said those were added to the back of the scissors later than when mine was manufactured and apparently after yours was. If the tang on the main blade says Victorinox, then you've got a deluxe tinker.
