Need help Identifying this old knife

Hey everyone. First off, great forum. Here's my question.... I found this in my grandfathers attic and thought it was pretty cool. I believe it is silver plated because I can see what appears to be brass on the blade. I dont know what to call the thing. Knife or Dagger?Or even if it is silver plated. Has anyone seen anything like this? I would appreciate any input..Oh and if any one can tell me what its worth that would be great.
