So I bought this blue delica for my son for his birthday. I polished the clip and noticed the clip on this blue one is alittle longer then the orange one I just bought. The spider on the clip looks different also.

What do you guys think?

Did you buy the orange one new? I thought those only came with black clips.
The one from your orange looks like the one on my US made paramilitary 2. They are slightly different depending on country of origin so I wouldn't worry based on the clip.

I don't know enough about delicas in general to tell if yours is real or not. The blade does seem to have that characteristic sheen seen in VG10 though, so I'd lean toward real.

Yes bought them from the same place.... and I polished both clips. The orange one is the short clip. The short clip from my orange one is the same size as my wifes purple delica clip.

Interesting. Maybe country of origin isn't the reason for the variation. I have an old centofante and the bug on the clip looks like the one from your son's.
Good luck getting a definitive answer. That's a great gift by the way!

Thanks...but only if its real.:(

I just checked all 6 of my Delicas and they all appear to be the same length, a hair over 2.5 inches. I don't think that necessarily proves anything. I would like to see both knives with the clips installed. All of my frn models have the pinch point at the end of the clip resting on the Spyderco logo in the center of the handle as seen below.

Just checked all my FRN lockback Spydercos that use that clip (3 Delicas, Endura, Stretch), and they all measured ~63.6mm (~2.5 in). One of the Delicas (ZDP version) is pretty new (bought last year), and the others are all a few years old.

The jimping looks crisp. For all I can tell it looks like the purple one I got. The fakes have dull straight jimping from what I understand.

No answers guys?:o
Spyderco has a habit of making minor tweaks and changes without fanfare, so determining a knife is definitely real or fake on the basis of a couple minor differences between the clips on two knives of the same model is virtually impossible. In this case, unless the date codes on the boxes are identical, it could very well be that:

a) the blue one is newer and clip has been enlarged slightly, for reasons best known to Spyderco
or
b) the orange one is newer and clip has been shrunk slightly, for reasons best known to Spyderco
or
c) one of the two represents a case where a clip intended for a different model wound up getting used on a Delica

As always, the single best defense against fakes is to buy from reputable dealers.

I got them on amazon shipped and sold by them. They have the same date codes...both "KN"

Also the first blue delica I got, I didnt like the way it opened and closed. Tried everything so I got them to send me a new one...and the clips on both blue delicas have the same clip size.

I have yet to read/hear about fake d4s, have bought many without even considering it. My $ says its legit.
