My grandfather passed away almost 2 months ago, my uncle game me a whole bunch of boxes and ammo cans full of stuff, i was going through on of the boxes and found this gem, trying to find out what model, age and value (my dad has me check for insurance policies because we rent) i do not plan on selling i think my grandfather had it when he was in the navy during WWII

I cannot see the marking on the tang or the detail of the shield. But it is a #163 Rope and Hawser knife. 4 7/16 long, cocobolo handle covers, steel bolster and linings.

The shield would probably be "Wall Rope Company." The rat-tail bolster identifies it as 1947 until maybe 1950 if the tang stamp is Schrade Walden, and earlier if the tang stamp is Schrade Cutco. They always sell for less than $100 on ebay and usually less than $40.

Thank you trying to post a pic of the shield but will have to wait until I get home, cleaned it up and sharpened it today
