Hello I just got this knife this weekend from my aunt. I don't know the name of it. I did take the scales off and there are three initials of people and the date 2013 all with electric pen. The only thing on the blade says Buck and underneath U.S.A.

Interesting custom Intrepid, someones project knife. Looks like a burl handle and mirror polished blade. The Intrepids were new in the 1998 addendum catalog. They did not last long, the chisel versions were last seen in 2000 and only the larger 189 Tanto lasted to 2002. They never had a date code or model number. There were 4 variations, 2 blade lengths (5.5" & 6.75") and two blade shapes (tanto and chisel).

There was a short lived remake 2013-2015, the 625 Intrepid-L and the 626 Intrepid-XL. They had a black traction coated Tanto blade.

Here are the smaller original Intrepid-I 187's.

Thank You so much - Draleon, So it is a diving knife and more. I have the sheath for it also. My uncle wasn't a diver but he must have thought it was a cool knife.

Not just a diving knife. From the catalog, here are the uses Buck was suggesting.

"Perfect for SWAT, military, police, diving, survival and general outdoors use."

Sure, I,d be happy to, you guys are a vast storehouse of knowledge. I just measured the blade and it is 61/4 must have been sharpened. She also gave me a Stryder. I'll show that tomorrow. The blade is very sharp. There are no notches toward the rear of the blade.

Yep...The HK and KS III are a match. Not sure what the PT is though.

I have 888, 890, and 890/650 all with polished blades and the same Oak Burl handles. All 3 have the same engravings (no PT though). I bought them directly from the person who did the work.

Very cool knife T tommycopper1 .

There are no "notches" (serrations) on the blade because they have been ground off.
You can tell that the blade has been narrowed in relation to the choil.

Harold Klinkhamer did the work on that knife. The story on the Burl Oak is that the tree was cut down in Delphi, Indiana and was over 250 years old. Quoting Harold "I personally took this tree to the saw mill to be quarter sawn. The burl wood was set aside for various special projects."

HK = Harold Klinkhamer and KS III = Klink Special #3.

I have heard the name Klinkhamer before. Was he known for customizing knives? Wow if the blade was even with the choil there was some meat taken from the blade. I can't complain it was a gift with special markings. Thank You Everyone!! I am very happy to own it. It looks like one dangerous cutter.
