Hey guys,

havent been on here in a few months, well because I'm in a tiny littlespot in southern afghanistan that doesnt have very good if any internet. I hopped on here today with my dial up speed to ask you guys a question about my super bad ass ZT-9. I love this knife! so far it has probed out a little over 40 IED's and is working like a champ! I have one issue, the sheath is killing me. as of right now, it is 550 corded to my kit, which sucks because with the heavy weight of the knife it stretches out quickly. does anyone know of something i can order to better attach this beast? or if there is anyone out there that can make a better (MOLLE) compatible sheath for me? I really appreciate your help guys!

I can't help you with your question, but just wanted to say thanks for your service and stay safe.

Thank you for your service, brother.

Azwelke, Godspeed, and thrillbilly all here at BFC do some good kydex work. Get in touch with them, tell them I sent you, and if you have any problems, email me.

We'll get you squared away.

Are you using a single strand of 550 for the attachment loop? Try 3 or 4 passes through the MOLLE and it should work fine. If you get the opportunity there are/were some awesome surplus bayonets over there for bargain prices. I've heard the locals have jacked the asking rate up to beyond what you can get them for in the US and there are many, many faked/modded one around so use caution. Google ERSOC and you will have an idea of what to look for. But again, watch out for fakes.

Watch your six brother!

It looks like the sheath can take Blade-tech MOLLE-LOKS. These are clips that screw in to the holes on the sheath and then slide through your PALs webbing. Not to be confused with the Tek-loks that are larger for belts/ALICE style gear. I think with 4 MOLLE-Loks you'd be set. Put one on each side at the top and at the bottom and then feed through the webbing.

In the mean time, as JWR said use multiple passes. It would probably also help to soak the cord and then tie it up wet. The cord will then shrink slightly as it dries which will get it tight but then you're cord will also be preshrunk somehwhat and shouldn't stretch and expand as much. I can't offer anymore input than that since I don't own a ZT-9. I suspect you may have a hard time getting a Kydex sheath made because the ZT-9 is a fairly expensive and fairly special purpose knife and those guys may not have one to work with.

i will have to look into molle locks, ive never used them, but the sound like they might do. I think the biggest issue with a kydex is the very large handguard. as of right now, im trying out zip ties..... we'll see

I used alice clips on the back and tied the 550 over the top to take away any movement.

Bjblade,
Thank you for your service.
I would like to offer my service, however I do not have a ZT-9.

If you are ever able to send it, or if anyone around here wants to send one to me, I will be happy to help you out.

Thank you,
Al

azwelke,

That is a terrific offer, unfortunately I can't send it to you as I have no other tools that offer the same capabilities. Your work is phenominal, and I hope something can be worked out. Thank you.

I can offer no suggestions to your question but I do thank you for your service and willingness to put yourself in harms way to safeguard our way of life.
Thank you.
