I was asked about a Buck Knives 493 Waterfowler Boone and Crockett Platinum Series. I am familiar with the Ergo Hunter Waterfowler but not this 493 model. Can you tell us anything about it?

Who asked you? The seller on ebay, because that's where the knife you're asking about is.... We can't appraise a knife for you as JB said.... eBay item # 223179931961

You'll have to contact Joe at Buck...

No, not the seller on Ebay. A local guy who knows I collect Buck Knives. I only collect the utilitarian grades, not the Series knives, so this is a foreign model to me.

The guy that's asking is looking at the one on ebay. I showed the item #. He's wanting to get an appraisal from you, I believe... Ask him...

If he has one in his hand, I stand corrected...

He has one in hand. His is dated 2015 on the box. That ebay listing is the only other reference to the knife I've found. A search on the forum brought up a 2014 FS post for a 493 but it described a different handle.

They were made in both 154CM and 420HC.

Without discussing value of that particular knife,I would state that I believe the 154CM to be worth about $30.00 more than the 420HC model.

Not trying to be a smart alleck, but we know what it is not worth. It is obviously worth less than that if it is not selling.
That one on Ebay has been relisted 3 times, but its description is the best information I've been able to find so far.

Does the "-B" mean this particular knife is a factory blemished example? Or does it stand for the "Boone & Crockett" Platinum Series? The box doesn't have any stickers or marks to indicate it is a blemished model.

-B means box ---- that goes for all knives with -B.....

ha --that sellers prices are outta this world----look at how many items he has sold---funny---I think I would lower my prices.....
