I am forced to fly out of state tommarow and I need to change my edc/psk to something that I can pass through airport security with out a problem, or a large man with a rubber glove taking me to the back room if you know what I mean. I plan to put everyting in a Maxpedition Rat wallet. Ideas Please. I will have my other edc/psk in my checked baggage.I hate being with out my knife, even if it is only for the flight. So far I am thinking
lighter, mag/flint block, or spark light
oven bag with micro pur
mirror and whistle ?fishing kit?
flat packed ductape ?snare wire?
magnifying glass ?wire saw?
a few bandaids and meds
sewing kit
flashlight and batteries
calling card, important #'s, some cash
Parachute cord
Compass is on my watch (suunto clipper)

Can anyone think of something I have left out or need to add or remove?. Please tell me I you do. Thanks.
Wade

Bandanna and a book.

Careull with the sharps TSA may or may not get on you. If they come across some they will continue to look farther until you are delayed.

Carefull with the Mag/ Flint block. They may not like that either. I do think that matches are in Lighters are out. Lighters can explode (?). I'd say skip the flint and lighter get a book of matches and drop them in the tray for them to see. If they don't like them they won't be going throught your stuff. Put them in the waterproof baggie once you get on the plane.

What about my surefire E2D and N95 gas mask? Can I carry these on in my backpack? I have no problem checking the surefire and taking a mini mag instead. But I want the mask with me, and its a little expensive to have taken by TSA. And I cannot drive or I would be. Thanks

Yeah thats why I had the ?marks around them. Not sure the TSA would approve of those. Anyone know about the gas mask, would that be ok or not?

How are they dealing with batteries? If you don't want to lose the good light, take the minimag. The mask just might raise some suspicion, causing you to get jerked into a back room with bubba and all his friends. What you gonna tell them when they ask why you have it with you?

What do you think of the Max. Rat wallet? I've been thinking about it to carry my EDC gear. Mostly I'm wondering if a match safe and Vic Hunter will fit.

Gask mask? Just curious, but where are you going that you need a gas mask? I think that airline security might get a little nervous about you having that. They might ask themselves "hey, what is that guy going to be doing on that plane that he needs a gas mask for?" You might as well throw a boxcutter in the pack with it.

Otherwise, I think your Kit is relatively complete. If you're really worried, you could add some MRE's or powerbars, and maybe an inflatable raft or two. Possibly a locked case full of knives. :D

Have a good trip.

Longbow50, the rat wallet is good, its kid of square and sticks out from your hip a little farther than I like but not too bad, I like the H2 much better. You might want to cut out the divider in the main compartment for more space, a match safe might be a little too big for it. But it will hold a altoids tin comfortably. As far as the gas mask, I edc it, just one of those things I like to have with me in case of fire, nuke attack, deadly gas, bird flu ect.... New lungs are hard to come by. I think I will ask around a little at the air port when I check my luggage if it would be ok to carry it on or not. Do you think I would get it taken away? I was reading a thread on ETS and they reccomended taking a mask. I guess I will find out tomarrow.

Let us know later what they said OK? Also, it might depend what airport you´re flying out of as to how they will react. Tim

I carry super glue for closing small wounds and those annoying split fingertips.

Well just wanted to update everyone. I was not even given a second look for the gas mask, but I had my bic lighter taken away. Other than that no problems, thanks for all the help.
