Greeting to all Busse lovers here.

I am a newbie on Busse and have been following this forum for a couple of months.
First time I heard about Busse is when I saw FFBM on knifetests.com, since then it has been haunting me.
Got to have one of those.

I am currently considering FFBM or NMSFNO as my first one, and I thought it will be great if I could heard some opinions on the experts here.
So if I could get some light on which one I should choose as my initiation knife to the INFIholic community, it would be much appreciated.

Another question is about my confusion with the variants of BM out there.
I heard about Fat Fusion BM, Fat Flat Fusion BM, Combat Grade BM, etc.
What is the difference among them?
Am I right to assume that FFBM is strongest/toughest of all BM?
If I could only choose one among the BM, which one should I choose?

Sorry for the long question.
Many thanks for all the members here.

Go to my Post "MOAB COMPARISION PICS" to see some size diferences I think it is currently on page two:thumbup:

Welcome to The HOG CULT !!! I would start out with a FFBM and go from there.
hogcult.com and bussecollector.com are some excellent sites to visit for research.
depending on your application for knife use, a lot of guys like the CGFBM for users, they are .25 thick with corrogated bevel technology. they are thinner than the FFBMs, but it makes them lighter and more practical for use. as far as toughness INFI is IMHO the best stuff out there!!! and you CANNOT BEAT THE WARRANTY !!!! if you damage it Jerry will fix it up for you, NO PROBLEM. I bought my first BUSSE in January 09 and now I have about 14, not mention a few SCRAPYARDS AND SWAMP RATS. I also aquired a MOAB (no small feat)
WARNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SEVERE CREDIT CARD DANGER AHEAD!!!! good luck !! The PEOPLE here on the BUSSE forum are great and more than will to feed your new ADDICTION !!!

NMSFNO
Still available on the company store at a great price.
Once its gone,thats that.
Between the 2 knives youve listed,
I would go for the NMSFNO as my first/only Busse.
Much more "all around usable" than the FFFBM.
However,
with economy and status of the knife market,it IS a great time
to pick up an FFFBM at a great price as well.

For me,I would have "My First Busse!" an NMSFNO
and later down the road, you can get another
"WOW!" knife when you score an FFFBM.

Welcome to the Forum!

I think any BM or the NMSFNO is a good choice. They are all ridiculously strong. I think bussecompanystore.com still has a nmsfno for sale, so that would be your best deal. I think all around the NMSFNO is a better blade. But if you are looking to just destroy and chop the BM is a better tool. Good luck with the shopping.

The FFBM and Fat flat FBM are the same knife.
Any knife can come in CG (Combat grade) It means coated....

Better get the NMSFNO at cost is good advice:)

Welcome to the trough:thumbup:

Thanks to all the comments.
I just realized how bad this INFIholic virus is.

Just shortly after my first post, I suddenly found myself ordered the NMSFNO through the company store (must had done it while sleepwalking )
and the bad thing is...right when I awake I already thinking of FFBM ...aarrrghhh...
(and that is no easy task since there are FFBM, FFFBM, CGFBM, NMFBM :D )

Couldnt wait to hold my new NMSFNO though..

BTW, I am trying to google some answers but still cant get it, maybe anyone can help me?
- FFBM vs FFFBM : what does "Flat" stands for? does it means FFFBM is thinner than FFBM?
- Combat Grade : I thought that it means corrugated blade, but then someone here said that it is about the coating. I am still under impression that all Busse blade (except satin finish) is coated, what did I miss here?
- What is "Nuclear Meltdown" ? Just a couple of inches longer and slightly thinner than the regular?

Hope I could get some answers here.
As for me, I will be busy managing my expense to allow more of these superb knives :D

Yup, there are a lot of acronyms...

The FFBM, FFFBM, Fat FBM, and flat fat FBM are all the same knife.:foot::foot:

All of the coated blades are called combat grade because they are less finished under the coating.
In combat you would not care....
It offers high performance blades at a better cost than if they were taken the extra steps to make satin or double cut....
The satin version NMSFNO was $597:cool:

The nuke meltdown is a rounding of all the edges on a few newer releases....
The NMFBM is a little longer than the others....

You will LOVE the NMSFNO:thumbup:

Welcome! :) I remember when I first came into the Busse forum, and I didn't know even how to buy a Busse. I went to Bussecombat.com and saw a Sus Scrofa but didn't know where to get a FSH, thats all I wanted.

Congrats on ordering your first Busse, I hope you enjoy your first Busse and do not hesitate buying a FBM, you will like it a lot, and if you dont you easily be able to sell it.

The flat is no corrugated bevels on the blade which come on the CGFBM.

Well if you have anymore questions, dont hesitate to ask.

Thanks to all the comments.

The NM treatment does not necessarily mean thinner. Most Busse knives come is a range a thicknesses as a norm. The NMSFNO as ~.22" in the CG is extremely tough and would not really benefit much, if at all, from greater thickness besides being 'cooler' and a bit heavier. Personally I am under the impression that one of the benefits of 'super' steel is the ability to make the blade thinner and lighter without compromising strength.

The Skinny ASH-1 is 3/16" thick and weighs 14.6 oz. vs. 20.7 oz. of its thicker brother. This is as thick as many of the other top rated survival knives in the same lenght but with probably the toughest steel going.

From a collector or resale standpoint the fatter the better in Busse. That being said the NMSFNO and NMFBM are less likely to be re-released later.

Great alternatives to choose from. I like the NMSFNO a lot because it seems like an all-rounder large knife. The model available on the store's website, as of the time of this writing, is desert sage with black machined micarta. It is a very nice color scheme (I have one of these), if that matters to you.

The NM treatment is nice ergonomically and looks good too.

Welcome to the pig pen. I just got a NMSFNO and I think that it is a good sized BIG knife. Large enough to do some serious chopping but not so large as to need help carrying it.

Well, just like everybody has already said :).

I don't have an NMSFNO (yet :D), but I have both the NMFBM (combat grade, which I've stripped and hand sanded to satin finish) and, more recently, (arrived today actually, and thanks, Knife Hunter!), a CGFBM, bead blasted and convexed.

After just a small bit of beating, I'm sold on the CGFBM. It's probably that I'm just 5'8", but ten inches is plenty of blade for me, the 11.5" and additional weight of the NMFBM is overkill. The CBT grooves really do seem to help to decrease binding/friction, and the lower weight makes it better for continuous use/carry.

That said, the NMFBM is absolutely awesome, and maybe my impromptu and unscientific test is biased because the edge isn't convex. If I only had once chance to chop off the zombie's head before it got me, this is probably the one I reach for :D.

I have a few other Busses, I don't think you can really go wrong, I've found that I like 'em all, I just like some better.

RaiShen, welcome to BladeForums!

Congrats on your NMSFNO. It's a fine all-around camp knife. We could help you better if you could tell us what tasks you want a knife to do. This is a great time to start a Busse collection, as there are many available on the secondary market here on the sale forum.

Ahahahaha....(laughing nervously)
At first I tought one NMSFNO and one of the FBM types will be enough.
After reading posts above, now I tought one NMSFNO and one of "EACH of" the FBM types will be enough.
Ahahahaha...(even more nervously)

Welcome to BF. NMSFNO would be my vote for a starter blade. Don't own a BM but as stated previously by others above the NMSFNO's are still available at the company store at great prices, never to be seen again through the secondary market at those prices. If I remember correctly the NMSFNO's wont be made again either.
