Hey guys,

Just wanted to get opinions on what my next Busse purchase should be. I love my 8” Steel Heart but I’m looking for a smaller companion knife for lighter tasks/ dressing game. Thoughts?

I agree. The WS1020 is really nice. You could also go with a Warden - Game, Whiskey, Max (Elmax), Skelly, HACK, etc. - or a Trail Scalpel. Those are really nice

Agreed on all the above recommendations. The new WS1020 is really nice.

Is look for SR-101 (anything from Swamp Rat or Busse Battle Grade) over INFI for what you're asking for. Better edge holding with only a minute sacrifice in toughness.

Don't forget the Busse Mentor, Busse Battle Grade Active Duty, Swamp Rat Rodent Solution, Rodent Trail (one of my favs), any of the RatManDu series, or even the Lil'Smokey if you can find them. These choices also depends on your hand size or desired blade length.

Garth used his OG Active Duty for years as his deer knife. Others like the Anorexic Basic 4. The various Elmax blades are excellent.

Thanks for the replies boys. I’ll post whatever I get. Price isn’t really too much of a factor but I plan on using it hard.

I've dressed many deer with my Swamp Rat HRLM. Its basically a 4 inch RMD. Its one of my favorites.

Just got done helping my Dad butcher 3 hogs last week. Used a WS1020 just to get some personal experience with it. Gotta say Dan and the folks over at the Yard really did an amazing job on this blade. Skinning and processing hogs is no joke, but the WS1020 made it a breeze. It has made its way into my field pack and hopefully it will see a lot more skinning and processing use in the future.

Garth
