My question to those of you with experience using either or both of these blades is: If you could afford either a Buck Hoodlum or a ESEE Junglas which would you pick and why? Thanks for your comments and input in advance.

I wouldn't limit myself to those two options, in the last month or two there have been many fantastic releases in that size in and around the pricerange and also for considerably less.

Out of those two, I'd pick the Junglas. Thicker, stouter blade profile means more weight for throwing around chopping. Simple, efficient ergonomics, nice drop point for controlled tipwork and good belly for any slicing or chopping tasks. Buck is a great company and I have many of their knives, but I know with ESEE the F&F is going to be phenomenal.

Consider the Kershaw 1077 and the Kabar Heavy Duty series.

Thanks PR, of the two suggested I'd lean toward the Kershaw over the Kabar only in that I really am looking to a 10', solid camp blade. The ESEE does appear to me to be the better of the two (Buck Vs. ESEE), the Kershaw looks to be somewhere in between the two. Thanks for the suggestions

My initial reaction is to say the Junglas but after watching this video I can see that a lot of thought went into the Hoodlum......both look great knives, hard to pick one over the other !

Wow, my heads gonna explode! Like the TOPS but out of the price range, The Browning is made in Taiwan so it's out, the Hoodlum "looks" good and Lord knows Ron Hood was a stud. I appreciate the feedback gentlemen, keep it coming. I can spend in the $150 range before the missus starts missing the money :-)

Buy the Junglas. You could easily make most if not all of your money selling it if you don't like it.
