Hey guys! My birthday is coming up and I've decided I'm going to buy myself a nice knife for a present! I have a buck vantage large (cheap version) that is good for my more messy chores but I want a secondary EDC knife that is for enjoyment as well as lighter edc tasks like food prep and the like. I want it to be 3" or less, good lock, decent steel and handle material..but also I want it to look really cool..if that makes any sense? been thinking about a mini grip, or a persistance...but really am unsure! So if you guys who are much more 'informed' about different knives could give me some suggestions It would be very much appreciated! thanks a lot. Should also Add i only have around 100 canadian $ to spend.

my number one choice would be the kershaw skyline...ideal for light EDC, and very nice on the eyes and in the hand. 2 choices would be a spyderco caly 3, kershaw leek if assisted opening is your thing, or the al mare eagle. all are nicely sized, and made for light use edc.

Id suggest the caly 3 but its a tad over you limit (a good canadian dealer is selling them for about 130.

Another great choice is the spyderco manix 2 although it has a slightly longer than 3 inch blade. It can be had for 100 canadian

Spyderco Delica 4. Get the one with the British Racing Green handle and the ZDP steel. Very cool. The combo edge version is on special at knifeworks.com right now for a very good price.

I ordered that exact knife for that price and it arrived today. VERY impressed. Plus, I really like the lock back design and the fact that you can place the pocket clip on any of the 4 corners.

+1 Skyline. Unbelievable light with G-10 handles. Ok it has linerlock but its so well design that if linerlock fails, it won't close on your fingers. I got mine for $30 in eBay. Its bit long though slightly over 3" blade.
Kershaw Zing is good choice too. Heavier with polymide handles. Sturdy knife with 3" blade. Works well in food prepearation and grooves on the blade makes it standout from the crowd.

Also, as suggested Kershaw OD-1 might be good too. It has framelock and its pretty lean design. There's always the Buck 55, little brother of famous Buck 110. Well under 3" blade. Excellent built quality, good 420HC steel. Dark wood and brassbolster's make it look really beautiful.
