Hey guys,

So I need some help picking out a small edc and a large chopping capable fixed blade. Ill start with the EDC.

I think I have narrowed it down to the sage 1, 2 and leafstorm. I am leaning towards the sage 2 as I love the looks and really want to try a Ti Framelock. I looked at some griptilians but I don't quite like their look. I EDC a tomcat CF and a manix 2 but I honestly don't feel comfortable with them when Im on campus because of how large and intimidating they look. I want something sleek and classy that wouldnt scare a bunch of college kids if i needed to use it. I bought a delica for this purpose but really dont like it- or lockbacks in general for that matter. price wise Id like to stay under 150. Let me know of any other knives that would be good.

Now for the fixed blade. I got a chopweiler in a trade that should be here in a day or two but Ive found In general I dont like using knives of that price point like 250+. Maybe when I get out of college and start making some real money Ill not feel bad about using nice things. I may keep it, I will just have to see. But I am thinking that even if I do keep it I want a beater fixed blade that I wont hesitate to use. looking at a 200 or less price point.
Right now I am looking at a junglas. My dad has one and Ive gotten to handle it and its great and I LOVE the sheath. The only thing I dislike is it is very thin. Also I am looking at a SK 5 trailmaster. I dont like cold steel in general as their advertising and lynn thompson puts me off but I have heard nothing but good stuff about the knife. It looks like a beast and I like the handle but the sheath it comes with looks crappy. I like kydex. Ive looked at fallkniven but the A-2 is really expensive and I would not use it. Let me know of any suggestions. Im open to anything under 200. Thanks!

I'd suggest a BM 943 or 940 (outside of the ti-frame locks). Sage 2's can sometimes be found on the exchange here around 130ish.

It's also possible that you could trade, or sell off, knives in pursuit of a small Sebenza.

Fixed blade, perhaps an RC-6 or the RC-5?

Don't even worry about the Chopweiler. Go out and use the tar out of it. It is one of the toughest blades going and will easily handle most any task you ask of it.

for the large fixed blade, why dont go for the RTAK II, the blade is a little bit thicker than junglas, but you know the cons... the handle and sheath aren't as nice as junglas.

if you hate the cons of the RTAK II, +1 on the RC-6 and maybe you can browse on the RD Knives from the OKC. I've heard 5160 steel they made is better for a chopper.CMIIW.

I dont have any experiences with choppers but if you like the Manix 2 and want to try a Ti framelock like you said you'll love the Sage 2. Those are my first 2 spydercos and after handling a small sebenza for the first time at a gun show this weekend, I'm even happier I went with the Sage. I dont think I have refined enough taste to appreciate the sebenza and I've developed a serious attachment to the spyderhole.

Coincidently my 3rd and 4th spydercos are going to be the Manix 2 in Orange and the Sage 1... I'm seeing a trend.

Yes I love the manix 2. Its the best cutting knife I have. I love my CF tomcat but in terms of cutting ability I dont think anything can match a FFG leaf shaped blade. I think Im going to get a sage, now the question, sage 1 or 2? And I have an orange manix 2 on pre order as well :D I'm in love with the leaf blade.

Yea I had to get on the titanium bandwagon for my first Sage but I've since decided that I'll have to own every Sage model that comes out.

Cant go wrong with that! I have wanted a sage since I held one about 6 months ago. It feels like it is just made to fit for YOUR hand. No knife is going to be comfortable for every person but I think the sage is about as close as you can get to perfect ergonomics for a folder.

I agree 100% It would be cool if each model sported a different steel along with the different locks.

heres what I carry everyday and no one on campus has bnothered me about it yet
its a $60 knife so not to heavy on the wallet either
