Hi-

I am trying to determine if this knife is a model 14 attack variation or possibly a variation of the Model 1 "All Purpose Fighting knife". Or maybe neither...I am lost.

I am new to Randall knives...

Here is a breakdown of the specs:

overall length: 11.75"
blade length: 7.25"(from base of hilt to tip of blade)

The guard is not flat, it is slightly angled down on each side.

Lastly it has about 3 inches of sharpened blade on top.

I am lost...please help :)

Thanks in advance.

I have two of them, one with a Single Finger Grip handle, and the other with a Border Patrol handle:

hey lunde-

do you happen to know when this model was introduced(or a year range)?

also, is there a way to tell the older models from the newer one?

thanks in advance

My understanding is that the #16 SP#1 was introduced during Operation Desert Storm, meaning in the very early 1990s.

Negative, it was a Doug Kenefick design, a DS if you will, first available in 1978 - later it became a non-catalog offering, then regularly cataloged model...

Those #16 SP's were introduced late 70's for sure..... original non catalog designation was "saltwater fighter" Bart RKS#132

thanks for all the replies...

i am still unclear on how to identify how old my knife is...

are there markings to look for?

thanks
