I have a large folder collection but I don't really carry them much. I don't know much about Busse offerings but they're really nice looking knives. I'd like to buy one if there's a knife that is close to my specifications.

The sales threads are usually just a lot of jumbled up acronyms with prices and pictures and no sizes or anything like that. I don't know what is what.

What I'd like is an edc Busse knife - kind of a "hide-out" type. I have Esee Izulas (blade & handle too short). Esee 3 & 4, (the handles are too short). Spyderco Street Beat - (handle kinda short and not very strong). Ka-bar is too big and so on.

I'm looking for a Busse knife (preferably satin finish) with about a 3 3/4" or 4" blade, that I can carry in a pocket sheath or clip in a sheath IWB or lash on a belt or belt loops.

Preferably the knife with black G-10 scales and the little loop on the bottom (at the base of the cutting edge) - something for some finger protection.

Thanks for any advice.

Here is one of a couple sites that have definitions of acronyms, specs, weights, etc of the Busse knives:

There is another really good site for this type info, but I'm having a brainfart and can't remember its name right now. :foot:

If you want an edc size knife with a longer handle you may want to look at the CABS/SCABS/LCABS depending on your choil preference

I took this image from google - I'll take it down if the owner wants me to

Another vote for the Cabs models, here are my two. 1st one has bone handles and is from the custom shop and the second one has paper micarta handles.

The Leaner meaner would also be one to look at. Also 4 inch blade around 8 inch overall.

Is there a Busse version of the Swamp Rat Rodent Solution. Its a great EDC with a very comfy handle for large hands.

Swamp Rat is definitely worth checking out, there is currently available the Rodent Solution and the Rodent 4, otherwise, what they said :D Maybe a Game Warden would fit your criteria. Before I sent it back to Garth to get stripped and sharpened and engraved for my wife, I carried a Skeleton Key everyday. If you were to consider a Skeleton Key then you might want to check out a Cultelus as an option also, they are very similar one the Cultie just has slab handles, while the SK is a skeletonized knife. And last but certainly not least is the HACK Bear Cub, but those are maybe a little smaller than what you are looking for..

Hello again, its your stalker, again! Hey that is what stalkers do.

I know I will take flak for this as the rest of the Busse folks here are always nice and helpful and accommodating and they might perceive this post not to be, but it is.

I just want to remind you of your opinions re. Busse, Infi, value and the whole sheath thing. I am just being helpful as it seems you suffer from short term memory loss and I would hate to see you being disappointed yet again.

Infi has not changed since your recent posts, the sheaths still cost extra, the Busse market has softened a little but not too drastically and it is still the same fanboy crowd that you are seeking advice from. Sharpness from the factory was a concern for a few at some point but Jerry promised to address it and he seems to have done that. Many people, including myself have been impressed with their factory edges lately.

I am not questioning your opinions and I don't care to debate your opinions in this thread, I might agree with some of them and disagree with some of them but that is another thread. I am merely reminding you of your own opinions to avoid disappointment. But I understand that opinions can change, I change mine constantly so yours may have changed or maybe you are trying to be more open-minded and learn something through actual experience. Well this may be an opportunity to do so.

I think the CABS already mentioned here fits many of your criteria.

SR101 has a helluva reputation for edge holding so you could look at the Swamp Rat line unless you are concerned that there is no "real" steel called SR101. The HRLM is a good choice in a smaller knife for larger hands. The Rodent Solution has a fantastically comfortable handle but I am not sure if it might be too small for your hands. I will be happy to shoot some comparison pics, in-hand, for you of different sized knives in that range if you wish.

So sincerely, I hope you find what you are looking for and are not disappointed again, knowing full well what you are getting this time.

I have one Busse purchase that arrived dull as a butter knife. It felt good in hand but was dull, overpriced and I didn't know how to mount the cardboard sheath on my belt. :(

IMHO, BUSSE INFI isn't all it's cracked up to be (in one area) and that is "holding" the edge applied to the blade. YMMV. :)

A pretty popular YouTube reviewer called it 52100 in a review I saw the other day or maybe he said similar to 52100, as he was alluding to the non-existence of a real steel called "infi."

I don't care really let them call it and believe it's kryptonite if they want to. I don't have any Busses anymore and don't have a quarrel with BUSSE lovers. :)

You assume that I have never had a Busse Infi knife in my hands before and that I haven't talked to a lot of folks (via the web) and a couple in person who concur that while Busse puts out a h*ll of a knife, it's not "all that" in terms of the price tag attached.

There's a whole forum of true believers you can hang out with. Or, you can go to one or two threads on other forums that might challenge your ideas and thoughts about whole Busse thing. Here's some to read you can rest your fingers and read too.

Hello again, its your stalker, again! Hey that is what stalkers do.

Ahh, there you are you cretin. Now that we've aired out "almost" anything I've ever posted regarding Busse knives, I can proceed to clarify that those posts were made after recieving a "butter knife dull" offering from Busse. The other remarks were sweet & sour thoughts of my percieved value of Busse knives to final price tag.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that this last fixed blade (for me) will be one of the models suggested by the members above. A 4" handle and 3.75" to 4" blade are what I'll be purchasing.

I thought about this long and hard and considering what I've spent on my collection of Hinderer folders, the price of a Busse knife finally came into perspective for me. They aren't that darn much. I considered the dollars I laid down for XM-18s, XM-24s, Sebenzas and decided that for a fixed blade EDC, only a Busse would do. They have the "cool factor" down cold!

And, I have my friend Richard J to make whatever I buy - very, very sharp!

Like Chris Reeve and Rick Hinderer, Busse can be very addicting and the more sought after harder to get ones can cost a bit more.

Ahh, there you are you cretin.

Yes, here I am you thoughtless gum-flapper.

I thought about this long and hard

Finally you did that before posting. Try it more often.

Well cviz, that is the problem with shooting ones mouth off with so much certainty. When later you find out you were wrong, then you can look like an @$$hole who always shoots his mouth off at the expense of others, like Busse in this case & others.... Like the certainty you expressed here:

Jerry won't have another bottle of Jack Daniels on my dime - for sure.

So in case you were wondering why I jumped on you about Busse and CRK, it is exactly that. You seem to spout off negativity with so much certainty, absent much thought, at the expense of others in a truly arrogant fashion.

You know the old saying: "Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd."

Well at least you are man enough to admit, if not that you were wrong, at least that you can change your mind.

You were right about this community though:

Jerry won't have another bottle of Jack Daniels on my dime - for sure. Still, I found his community to be awesome folks and was invited to some local Busse gatherings in my area - out of the blue as soon as I divulged my location - good people and a solid customer base. I must have missed something?

Just saying.... :)

You did miss something: it is called thoughtfulness.

Well I hope you find the knife that meets your criteria and that you will become a constructive poster here so that we can all learn from each other. Constructive does not mean all positive, it means constructive. Many here, including myself post about things that we don't like, that we want improved to our own opinions of what would be improvements, but without the negative attitude that pisses people off.

Anyways, I have nothing more to add. I hope to see you around here and if you buy a Bussekin, I would like to hear your thoughts on it, what you like and what you feel can be improved.

Ahh, we've sunk to our true nature of calling people childish playground names. You're a real piece of work.

This is the internet dude - you jump on me? - what are you smoking? That would be something, really something to witness in the real world! :D

Your trolling of my thread is making you look like the person you portray me to be.

Anyways, I have nothing more to add.

Promise?
