I just bought a knife dating back to WWII and I'm hoping to learn more about the model.

The blade is 7" long from tip to hilt.
The blade has blood grooves on both sides.
Blade thickness is about 3/16".
The handle is 5" long from metal pommel to hilt.
The handle material is stacked leather (similar to KaBar).
Stamped on the blade at the hilt:
one side has stamped: ROBESON SHUREDGE
the other side: U.S.N. MARK 2

On the sheath there is a metal band around the top of the "plastic" scabbard portion. I call it plastic but don't know if that is the correct material.
Stamped one side: USN MK 2
the other side: NORD-4723 B.M. Co. 3 VP
The material for the belt loop is the familiar green military canvas, as is the restraining strap around the handle.

Thank You for your help,

Carl

This sounds like the Navy/Marine Mark 2 Fighting Utility knife. Commonly known as a Kabar. Lots of other companies made them. You can find info on the Camillus website as well as the Kabar website. If you do a google search on wwii kabar you'll probably find a full history. Here's an example from Kabar.

Several companies made them. You got a more unusual one. Condition, of course, is the key to market value (If that's an issue.)

Don Luis,

the Arms2Armor website.... that is EXACTLY what my knife and sheath look like, Thank You.

Thanks for all the info.

Cheers,

Carl
