Hello everyone, I purchased a Benchmade 426 Snody Gravitator with the spearpoint blade from Benchmade's online sale a month ago. However, I received a 425S prototype with the Modified Wharncliff serrated blade. I am not a big fan of the looks of the Modified Wharncliff blade and not a big fan of serrated blades either. I contacted Benchmade and they said they had extra 426 spearpoint blades and that they would replace it if I mailed it back. Got an email today informing me that the 426 blade will not say Prototype and wanted to know if I was okay with that before they switched them out.

I am probably going to add it to my collection rather than use it. Just like the lines and looks of the spearpoint better, but I am turning to you all for your advice. What would you do? Are the prototypes worth any more?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

After reviewing some pictures online, the 425S with the Modified Wharncliff blade has 4 barrel spaces whereas the 426 only has 2. From a collectors standpoint, I reckon that may hurt the re-sale value if the blades are changed. Maybe I should just leave the Wharcliff blade on it?

Keep the prototype instead of the spearpoint. You can always buy the spearpoint again, but it wont necessarily be a "prototype" and they are worth more, when bm discontinues the model it will be worth even more as a prototype.
