ok so i recently bought a kershaw rake and since its a flipper i have no need for the thumb stud and would like to remove it like i do on my other flippers.
I just find that the stud gets in the way and limits the amount of the edge that is usable since the stud can get hung up on what your cutting. I actually cut myself really bad once when the stud on my kershaw ram got stuck in a soda can i was cutting the top of and when i attempted to pull the blade free i sliced into my thumb really good.
thankfully the stud on the rake is close to the handle so it isnt as much in the way as on other knives, But i would still prefer to remove it
what i need help with is to find out how the stud is attached to the blade
-Is it a two piece stud that screws together
OR
-Is it a single one piece stud that is press fit into the blade (if this is the case i need to know if it is tapered causing it to be removed by pushing it one direction only)
my guess is that it is press fit but the last thing i want to do is to start pounding on my knife and potentially damaging the blade or making the stud more difficult to remove.
I would like to keep the stud in decent condition in case i sell the knife so i can reinstall it
I thank you for all your help and any advice you can give me (well except for telling me i should just leave the stud in
)
