I have a Benchmade 9050SBK Auto that I want to sell. What are the laws when it comes to selling these? I have no idea what they are and I do not want to get in any trouble trying to sell it. This includes shipping it. I live in Georgia. I received this as a gift a few years back and I am not a knife collector so instead of it collecting dust I want to sell it for some extra cash but sell it the legal way. Thanks for your help!!!

It's legal to own switchblades in GA, so it would seem logical that you would not likely get in trouble selling one.
Not positive, but with the changes to the Concealed Weapons Permit, it may even be legal to carry them.

Shipping is trickier. There are some strict federal rules about sending it thru USPS, not sure about UPS.

They are sold at most of the Gun/Knife shows around metro Atlanta, so one of them might be a good place to get rid of it.

The Blade Show is coming up June 8-10 at the Cobb Galleria....could be another place to sell or trade it.

Thanks for the info! I believe it can be shipped UPS but definitely not USPS. I looked this up after I made this post. I may just try to put it on Craigslist. I just hate dealing with some of the idiots on there.....Thanks for the help!

I believe shipping it to another state might constitute out-of-state commerce which is banned by federal law. Shipping an auto to another state is up to you but I wouldn't ask any questions about it here since the rules forbid the discussion subverting the law.
Best of luck!

I think I will just take it to the show then!!!! Thanks for all the info!

Its really the best way...Blade or one of the gun shows.
Don't know where you are in GA, but if you're at all close to it, the Blade show is a nice way to spend a day.
You said your not a collector, but there are lots of demonstrations and such, mostly on Saturday.
Lots of friendly helpful folks.....who knows you might get hooked. ;)

When you mentioned Craigslist, I was a little worried...that can be a scary place.

Unless you are just trying to give it away, someone is going to want to see it to give you the best price.

This forum has a section for selling such knives, although you would still need to follow the law and you would need to spend some money to update your user group. Although the knife show will be and as the others said, who knows you might become a collector yet.
