Welcome to Bladeforums!

Your post would be better recieved in the ShopTalk Forum. Here's a link:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=741

(or perhaps a mod could move this thread?)

If a stainless dagger blade is what you want, there are certainly more to chose from...you could go to www.texasknife.com, www.knifeandgun.com to name a few. I don't have all my suppliers in front of me here at work....but if you post in ShopTalk, they will know more. Just be forewarned that they're likely to suggest that you go ahead and make your own....:D

thanx

i posted in other forum.
i checked texasknife & other one
and did not find anything so interesting
so i would appreciate if u could post more
companies

thanx once more

it's a curious phenomenon....but rarely do you see 440C kit knives that are also hidden tang.

hello again

i am sorry but i did not understand this

440C this is probably stainless steel
but i do not know what is hidden tang

i really like dagger blade i mentioned in
first post, but i would like to have it
without fear of corrosion as some sort
of fancy thing i (almost) build myself

but i will also after buying the blade
4 sure ask somebody about fixing it
to oak handle

thanx 4 replying once more :)

the High Carbon blade you linked in your first post has a "hidden tang". If you can see the metal between the handle slabs - full tang.

Did you plan on making this knife yourself?

ahoy!

ok i understand now! :)

yes, i planned 2 make it 8)

ok not joke, i am really think 2 make handle
& folder from oak myself. i plan to process,
(after drilling a hole for part of blade that goes
into the handle - tang) both parts handle & folder
on lathe (if eng. lathe is machine that rotate
wood fast so it can b figurated with gouge - chisel)
... so that on end the whole thing looks like
big chess figure.

although as i said in first post
i will search for tips how to fix the
blade for handle (after buying it)

thanxAlot

The blade is polished, but I think it is not stainless. Stainless blades are not as strong as nonstainless blades. Dagger blades are thin and easy to break. A nonstainless blade may be your best choice.

The note, "threaded tang for NCK201 pommel" indicates that they make a part that you can use as a pommel (end piece for your handle). This part is the last item on the same web page as the blade. In the picture it is the bottom-right-hand cylindrical piece. In the text list of items it is listed as: "Brass pommel for Solingen Dagger, 7/8" dia., 1/2" thick, NCK201B $3.75." This is a cylindrical piece of brass with a hole drilled in the center. The hole has screw threads inside so that it can be attached to the threads on the end of the handle tang.

The notation, "NCK516", is the part number for the dagger blade. You would use that number when you ordered the blade.

It's grouped with other stainless blades....so who knows. I'd shoot an email first before buying - just to make sure.

With a hidden tang, you should be able to fit up a guard too.

hi

i received email from www.northcoastknives.com:

> The Solingen Dagger is stainless, hardened to an RC57. The manufacturer's
> literature doesn't say what type the steel is,
> but I believe it is 440C.

i belive that is good :D

why not just buy a Cold Steel TaiPan or a Boker/Harsey AF and then remove the handle material and put on a handle of your own choice? just an idea......

sounds good, friend. order it and enjoy the process. Be sure to post the results over in ShopTalk - let us know how it goes for you.
