Need help. This is probably a long shot. Victorinox?

My first knife..... of course I lost it. I was a kid when my dad gave it to me. I had it in my pocket while playing in the woods and somehow, I lost it. I remember only a few things about it, but I was hoping someone might help.....

It was very much like a swiss army knife in size and shape. It had one, maybe two blades. I distinctly remember it having wood or imitation wood handles, but they were glossy unlike the wood ones you see today. I also remember the swiss army shield on it... painted silver or black.

Does this ring any bells?

It would help tremendously if you could give a time-period for when you were a kid, i'm sure.

No, the contoured scales are a new thing. These were flat. I'm thinking it may have been a rosewood knife. Those seem to have the silver sheild on them.

As for more specific, i think they've only rather recently started using wood as scales on victorinox knives, and i've never seen one with just one or two blades, handled in wood.
As far as i know, and someone else will probably correct me, the only two-bladed knives victorinox seem to have, is the pocket-pal. Again, not seen one with wooden or imitation wooden scales.

Could it have been an imitation from a gas station or something along those lines?

Could be. I remember it being a nice knife. The old man didn't like junk. Whenever he gave me something like that it was good stuff. I could be remebering wrong though..... or it may have been nice in a kid's eye. :hs:

Did they ever do a darker red color for some reason? I know it wasn't the traditional red color (as that stuck out in my mind).

Could it have been a Hoffritz-branded SAK or SAK-type knife?

Maybe, but all the pictures I've seen look just like a regular SAK.

There are few things that I regretted doing in my life, losing that knife was one of them. I guess it's a good thing it was a small regret. :o

The huntsman also has two blades. My favorite sak pattern actually.

My guess is that you had a sak clone of some kind. I had the same experience although I actually found my old knife. I remember it being a genuine sak but it was actually a clone. It was actually pretty decent quality but still a clone

I'm also inclined to think it may've been a clone or knock-off of a 'true' SAK. Especially if imitation woodgrain, and also if the shield was painted on. Victorinox has put inlaid shields on their synthetic-scaled knives, at least as far back as the '80s, if not much earlier. Lots and lots of SAK clones out there, and the shields always seem to be painted on those.
