Hello all. I signed up to ask you all to help me decide on a new EDC.

I want a new pocket knife for utility use, EDC. I am looking very closely at the BM555 mini-griptilian with sheepsfoot blade and the BM556 mini-griptilian with the more classic blade shape.

I like the looks of the 556 blade more, but wanted to get your input before I buy. Is the sheepsfoot blade more utilitarian or is the 556's blade better for day to day use?

Welcome, if you like the looks of the 556 over the 555, get it. Ultimately, that's all that matters. They are both great knives:)

Thanks guys for the input. That is very helpful.

Guess I'll be going with the 556 then.

Next question - I'm looking @ GPknives to get these from. I'm in the states. Any other places I should be looking at as well? Most sites seem to vary by just a few dollars.

Thanks again!

+1 on the 556, but both are excellent designs. One of my favorite shops is owned by a member here, jonnymac. He has competitive pricing and he always takes care of his people:

I prefer the hole over the thumb stud, and either blade looks fine to me. So I'd choose the 555.

Check out Knifeworks also. They have a good selection of Mini-Griptilian knives in different blade shapes, coated or not, different colored handles, etc. You'll have to compare prices for yourself, but I'll vouch for them being honest and dependable.

Go for the 556 mini Grip with the thumb stud. It gives a a slightly smaller profile in the pocket and is more general utility adaptable because of the slightly narrower blade. This is a very nice folder and with the 154CM makes it a best buy in knives. This knife works great IWB carry. Roger and his fine people at Knifeworks are wonderful to deal with.
