New to this forum, so please bear with me.
I just acquired what I believe to be a vintage knife. Pics attached through the links pasted below. Appears to have some Asian or perhaps Japanese scrolling at the base of the blade.
I know nothing more about it than what the pics show.
Blade is 5 inches long, overall length with handle is 9 inches.
Sheath is either wooden or very aged and hard leather, but I believe it is wood.

Any thoughts would be very appreciated.
Thanks.

That is interesting! I don't know what it is, however, those characters look Arabic to me. Maybe the makers name? The set at the bottom appear to be numbers.

Thanks very much. Any thoughts on how I would find out some approximate value on it?
Read the rules......

Determining what it is would have to come first. Finding someone to translate those characters would likely be very helpful towards that.

Better pics would help. Low res pics don't reveal much detail. The provided pics are downsized to 640x480. Don't resize the pics when uploading to the host site, leave them as they are directly from the camera / phone.

No, it's not Japanese or any Northeast Asian language.
"Might" be South Asian or Middle Eastern.
