Would love to know more about this piece if anyone has insight. One of John Howsers earliest custom knives, made in 1981. I inherited this piece from my Grandfather and would like it to go to someone who can appreciate it. Includes engraving of his name on the blade.

I got the specs and the back story straight from John, who also offered to refinish and sharpen it.

Specs:

440c Steel blade
416 Stainless Steel Bolsters
India Stag Handle

Knife is approx 9" long, blade is about 4 1/2"

It originally sold in May of 1981 for $85 ( about $220 in todays money)

It's worth $150 to $175.00, refinished and sharpened, IMO.

Best Regards,

See post #6. I concur, and based on that I would think it would have more value to you as a keepsake from your Grandfather.
