I am looking to get a good knife for Duty carry. I would like a fixed blade I think. I have a little kabar (it has a 45 degree bend to it) and it shows too much. One thing I need more than a fixed blade is one that I am 100% sure that I will be the only one that can get to it. So it needs to be concealed or secured with some kind of lock. Who has any ideas or if you need anymore information to help decide just post and I'll get more info!

Spyderco Street Beat, designed specifically for LEO use. Awesome little fixed blade.
BRKT also makes a ton of fixed blades in various steels and handle materials.

If the priorities are concealment, access and retention it sounds likely to be a sheath issue as much as anything. It may be worth talking with a custom knife and/or sheath maker to see if they can put something together to suit your specific needs. It may be worthwhile having a look at the Knifemaker's Market area of the Exchange and maybe posting something in the Wanted-Knifemaker/Craftsman/Related Services area when you have a better idea of what you're after. Just a thought.

That's going to be difficult. A concealed fixed blade is difficult to access when needed.

Look at the Gryphon Model 10, a Cutlery Shoppe exclusive. It's a shrunk down Terzuola design, a 4" "boot knife" made from premium stainless steel that holds an edge. It makes a great small, flat, light fixed blade utility knife. Also, it comes with an excellent kydex sheath that can be used with a variety of attachment systems, from IWB loops to Spyderco G-Clips or whatever.

Chris and Matthew have hit on the real dilemma with a small FB. If retention and concealment are high priorities, the sheath and carry location are going to eliminate a lot of choices. I don't know what your duty clothes are, but one possibility no one's mentioned yet is carrying a small FB in a pocket sheath.

If you wear a sports coat, it's a pretty good solution. If you wear slacks or duty pants, a front pocket carry might still work for you, depending on what else you have in that pocket. The sheath could be rigged to attach to your belt with paracord so that in a pinch, you could pull the whole package from your pocket and then pull the knife out of the sheath. It actually works pretty well. That would open up your knife choices a bit because a lot of different smaller FBs will fit into the available pocket sheaths.

I was going to suggest the same thing. Something as simple as a BK14 or 25 minus the scales carried in a pocket sheath might work. I doubt anyone can get to it other than you, and frankly o doubt anyone is going to think to reach into your front pocket regardless.

I used to clip my Spyderco Police Model to the elastic straps of my vest. Freaked out a deputy when he asked to borrow a knife and I flicked it out. LOL

Esse 3 mil or Swamp Rat Ratmandu will both conceal well in a Sap pocket. I finally settled on an Emerson CQC15.

What? No suggestions for a Cold Steel Chaos? What have we come to? :(

Nobody suggested it because we'd like to avoid an Orwellian society. Spyderco Street has be the best recommendation seeing as that's what it was designed for.

I used to carry a folder IWB at 2:00 o'clock. Even with my jacket off, no one saw it. Put my hand over it and reach down with my thumb, and I had it out and open.

You can get a fixed blade to do the same, but easier to draw, not having to open. Just be more careful sheathing it. :)

I cary a street beat you will love it but its not concealed.but you can rotate the lock on the sheath so you have the knifehorizontal along your waistline .keep knife to the left side of youre belt buckle if you are righty and vise versa so it is very easy for you to grab.im sure someine here can modify the sheath to add a button lock or a slidelock to the kydex sheath its very easy to work with.c
