Need help with a hatchet

I just got a hatchet head that is labeled HB Made In Sweden. The blade/face is about 2.5 inches and the head is 4.25 inches. I don't have a weight on it, but it's fairly light. I think somewhere between a gransfors mini and wildlife hatchet. The eye is 1.25x0.5 widest to widest. I"m looking for a hatchet handle that would fit it that is 11-12 inches. I've found lots 14 inch handles locally but they would take a lot of work to get to fit because the end is too big to fit in the eye. I also found a straight handle that is 13inch and will fit the eye, but I'd rather have the hatchet style. Anyone have any ideas? Also, any ideas on the manufacturer?

thanks

It is very difficult to get a good selection of hatchet handles now, I would be surprised if you could track down one you didn't have to reshape. No idea who made it, I'd do a little filing to check the edge before seriously working to rehandle it.

Cliff,

Thanks for the suggestion, I actually tried a file on it before I pulled the remnants of the handle and the file skipped across the steel. I appears to be hardened about the same as my gransfors SFA when I put it to a sharpening stone.

Cegga, Thanks for the info, I'll get my friends wife to help me get ahold of them about a replacement handle. She lived in Sweden for a couple of years.
