Need Help With a New Folder

I'm looking for a new tactical folder. Need/want the following:

Flat(ish) G10 scales
Black combo blade, non-tanto
Tip-up carry - must have
Under 5" closed

I really like the Benchmade McHenry & Williams 705SBT, but can't seem to find one anywhere. There are others that I like, but are tip-down. What kind of options are out there for tip-down to tip-up conversion and what are the costs associated?

Thanks.

Lots of folders meet that criteria, do you have a price range?
Also STR can flip the clip around for you, im not sure what it costs but you can find him on here, he has his own forum.

You should be able to find a Benchmade 14205 that should fit your wants. They are one of the nicer Benchmades. I personally am a fan of the 950 rift but it has milled G10 and not completely flat.

My favorite BenchMade Axis lock is the Harley Davidson Mini HardTail which is tip up carry. I did end up making my own clip for it and wiping off the skull logos from the scales to clean it up though. But what a knife! Love the D2 blade and the general shape. Its like the updated modern age Buck110 only with a better new lock, lighter weight, smaller foot print and one hand opening with a pocket clip.

That 14205 looks nice. Looks better in the satin blade than the black. Hmmm. May have to reconsider the black.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Not a fan of the Harley models. Thanks though.

Kabar Warthog II fits all your descriptions, costs 15 dollars and lets you drop the extra 135 on another knife. Of all the folding blades I've used, it has lasted the longest. Its action is still rock solid after EDC for 2 years. Just a thought.

Wow, that Hardtail is awesome looking, it definitely does look like a modern Buck 110. Hmmm added to the list...would have to get rid of the HD logo and skull though.

Did you look at the Benchmade 710? It's the larger version of the 705 and it is still widely available and one of the most popular knives out there.

Yeah, I looked at it, but thought it just a little too big.

I like the looks of the Emerson Mini Commander, but am hesitant b/c I've never had a knife with the "hook" thing for pocket opening (or whatever it's called). Thoughts on that?

So, if I find one that's perfect otherwise, but tip down, who does conversions and how much do they cost?

Thanks again for all the help guys. Great suggestions and now the hard part...I have to decide!! Maybe I need more than one!!

I think the BM707 is a fairly normal size, 7 inches overall I'd guess.

STR can do the clip flipping, and probably others here. Dunno on price though, I've never had it done.

And more than one sounds good!
