Hi everyone,

I have an Alaskan Guide 110 rosewood that I had trouble getting to be smooth on opening and closing. It was catching on the way up and down.

I got some advice telling me it might be the coating on the rounded portion of the blade that was rubbing against the lock. That was rubbed away and now I can see that that might not have been the problem.

It looks like the base of the blade is rubbing against the brass as there is some of the black coating rubbed away on one side. Is there anyway to fix this without having to send it out to Buck?

I was thinking of sending it away but I don't know if I want to wait so long to get it back.

What do you guys think?

......And if both goose and decaf say it...you better buy stock in their word...:)

that was a joke...I think I got the message. I think I'll go ahead and do it. Just out of curiosity, how does one go about fixing this issue. (I won't try it myself as I'm sure I'll damage something).

You want to try loosening it up with WD-40 or penetrating oil and working it back and forth. Sometimes some of the black gook left over from the final cleaning gets left in the mechanism and can preven the blade from moving smoothly. If that doesn't work...send it in and let Buck make it right.

Mike, thanks so much for the reply...this is what I do with all new 110's and it definitely cleans them up smooth. I think this particular problem is with the blade rubbing against the side. Is there any way to fix that using home tools?

Is there any tools! ! ! Yes take a 106 to it, that should take care of it. Now that was a joke...:D:eek::D Best thing to do is send it back to buck... They will fix it....

I agree that the best thing to do is send it back unless you have the talent to take it apart. (I don't) It sounds like there may be a problem with the bushing.

Will Buck *take* an Alaskan Guide 110 for repair??? Or do you need to return it to Cabela's???

(Don't throw out your Cabela's receipt) ;)

Wrong, wrong, bad advice! You'll miss it. First, order another AG110 - use it while you wait. That original will come back from Buck as-new... put it on display carry - the second one! After all, those AG110s - like the AG192 - are just too purdy to use. You'll thank me later.

What Stainz said.
I have one 110AG Woody as an EDC and a Stag along with another Woody in my display case.
That case holds only 5 110 knives. That's how much I like the 110AG.

The other three are the Five-O Mike 110 BuffChipFlint, the BG-42 NS w/ Brass pins, and the Golden Eye.
