Hi Guys, Well I don't want to but I might have to sell the Creme De La Creme Of my Collection. It is A Darrel Ralph Mad Max Gibbs Proto #2
It was featured in Blade Magazine Awhile back, and I have the Magazine it was in. The knife is mint and has some very nice nugget work. If I sell this baby What should I ask For price wise? Thanks for any help you can share.

well, seeing as how regular custom maxx's start at 5-600 bucks, but yours is a larger one, and a proto at that, i am guessing 800-1000 bucks maybe more with the nuggeting. especially since they arent making thousands of them. FWIW, my .02, etc etc

The secondary knife market is down right now and I have a feeling you are not going to be able to get what this knife is worth. I would imagine this knife was probably somewhere around the $900 mark when purchased. I know that it should be worth more being that it was the #2 proto, but I don't know if you will be able to get anything extra because of this. I would probably price it at what I paid for it and see if people are willing to pay that much.

Collectibles in general are way down right now. It's a buyers market. Berry Bond's homerun ball sold recently for something like $450,000. That's a lot for a baseball, sure, but the previous record-breaking ball sold a few years ago for just shy of five million!

And here's the rub: same buyer in both cases.

Now is not a good time to be selling. On the other hand, it's a great time to be buying, especially if you want to buy as an "investment." In a year or two, assuming we can get this economy straightened out, Mr. Slim's Mad Max may be worth substantially more than it's worth now.

Sorry, KC, but that's the facts.

Thank you for the help guys, This one has the Dagger style Blade Gaben.

You Said it Gollnick, I Dabble in selling Domains, and that has been painfully slow. If Possible I will try to hold on to it.
