First time poster. I have an automatic Schrade I'm trying to identify. Closed, it is 4.25"; open 7.25". The only markings I can find are on the base of the blade - Schrade, Walden NY USA. The handle is black; it appears to be a Delrin type material. Release button is round; safety lock is a flat slide button. I got this from my father. I estimate the knife is from the 1960's. Can anyone help this newbie to knife collecting?

Welcome to the forum Buddy!

The knife would be made between 1946 and 1958. Schrade Walden was Schrade Cut Co before that, and the production of automatics were outlawed circa 1958. If you can show us the knife, we might be able to identify it.

I believe this matches the #155 Safety Push Button knife in the 1953-1954 catalogs, except that yours has the shackle. It gives the "old" Schrade Cut Co number of 1555 3/4 and shows a "Para-Trooper" blade etch. It is probably also illustrated in the SCC catalogs.

That's a nice knife Buddy and welcome to the forum but be careful......you'll catch Schraids if you stay here too long. Before you know it, it will consume all of your time and all of your money. On second thought, jump right in.....the water's nice.
