I took apart my Gerber fast draw Plainedge due to it, not opening correctly and had not been maintained for probably five years so I took it apart cleaned it greased it, everything then I start to put it back together and realize I don’t know which two screws go where on the inner assembly like there’s a screw that goes in and holds the spring for tension and there’s another one screw that comes in to hold the other side of the inner assembly together and I don’t know which is which and I was an idiot and didn’t take photos before taking it apart and I cannot for the life of me find anything online about assembling or disassembling this night so any insight would be greatly appreciated. I know it probably is a duh , but what can I say I just signed up for this forum I’ve been collecting knives for 10 years but I still act like a dip shit sometimes

Thank you,

Welcome to Bladeforums T Thatguyoverwhere

Did you mean Fastdraw?

Here is the results from a search here at BladeForums that talks of the patent drawings. Too small for me to read, but it may be of some help to you if you want to read through it.

Yeah thank you I saw those posts and looked at the patent documents but it’s not really helpful since it’s only side X-ray and I’ve tried looking on YouTube haven’t found stuff yet

That guy, you think you're the first guy on here whose took a knife a part and had problems getting it back together correctly. Shoot, we can all raise our hand in here on that one, especially on the cheaper knives.
Stop calling yourself names, keep your chin up and you've come to the right place for help. When you find your answer, and you will. Come back and post it so the next victim will know.

I got the knife together somewhat and working I actually bought a second of the same kind and plan to take the scales off that when it gets here to make sure everything is right but working with springs is a bitch and I also need to get my Leatherman rebar back together I had trouble getting the pin in the pliers and handle together so that’s my next escapade but love the forum

Good luck. It took me an evening and the following morning to reassemble my SRM folder with axis lock. I gave up the prior evening, then woke the next morning and succeeded on my first attempt. Omega springs and pivots are touchy. The knife is back to normal and works just fine.

There is no need to take knives apart for maintenance. The screws are for assembly.
