From what I can tell, Case's current product line is more for than collecting than using. My wife's grandfather mentioned that "old" Case knives were really great users. I'm assuming by old, he means models from the 1970s and earlier.

Question: Where can I purchase a Case folder on the internet that is a user from this era?

Thanks for the help,
Clay

You can still get a good CASE "User" if you only buy the Chrome-Vanadium (CV) steel. That was the original case steel. Stay away from "tru-sharp". Tru-sharp stainless polishes to a mirror finish and is completely stainless (looks great!), but won't hold an edge. As far as I know, The CV steel is available ONLY in the "amber bone" and "yellow (delrin)" scales.

Case does have some QC issues, but that just means that you have to check the knife out before you buy (There are some good online dealers who will do this for you as well).

On the other hand, Queen makes some very nice user knives in D2 steel.

Can't help you with an old case, but I know many around here have them...

What you need is a case knife in CV (chrome vanadium). Its the "original" case knife steel. Its does rust easily, but holds a good edge.

Almost all the case line now, save the amber bone CV and the yellow delrin CV, are all made in the 420. There are those of course, the bose models in ats-34 (pretty expensive though).

heres a link to some case knives in CV:
