Well, over and over again I've told people just how much I love my BRKT classic lite (in orange g10). The thing is I've never really talked about my dislikes which include: a substantial guard, slight recurve, polished g10 (rough grit sandpaper helped). Sure, I can have the knife go through a regrind process and sure as day put some grip tape on the handle... BUT THAT WOULDN'T BE FUN.

So, I've updated kind of what I'm looking for in an all around outdoors knife that can be just as happy by my side camping on a beach, or in the rockies. Not sure if that means I have to go synthetic or not for the handle material.

Looking for a blade around 3.5-4.5"
Stainless
NO GUARD WHATSOEVER
< $75
either full flat, scandi, or convex

What I have found so far that suits my liking:

Spyderco Moran Drop Point FB02

Fallkniven F1

Mora 2000

Brusletto-Kniven

Helle Grizzly
Helle Speider
Helle Futura
Helle Eggen
Helle Odel
http://www.ragweedforge.com/HelleCatalog.html
(Some have minimal guards and cost over $75 but... it's beautiful)

The one that I keep coming back to is a Grohmann #X3SF (last picture)
not sure if I should do the extra resin wood or horn.

So many decisions and I could honestly justify owning all listed above... IF I WAS WEALTHY. So where would you put your money if you were me?

The Fallkniven F1 is a great all around knife but you might have a hard time finding one for the less than $75 that you have stipulated.

exactly what i was thinkin.i say whop out the extra 25 bucks and get yourself an f1,it'll be well worth it

i would also vote for the F1, it is a great all around knife.... i still regret selling mine...:o

You want to shop. Enjoy. :)

But bang-for-bucks, M2000. Might be a tad too big for regular carry.

I had a Grohmann #3 kit knife. You might want to handle one first. I found the angle
of the handle to be a bit much. My opinion only though. Sold it to my brother and he
loves it.
Had a F1 also. Fantastic little knife. Probably the best little knife I've ever had.
It went to my step-daughter when she became a Master Guide. She needed a very good
knife when leading kids in outdoor camping and stuff like that.

I echo those on here who have chimed in on the F1.
Spend the extra few dollars and get one. You absolutely will not regret it.

Cheers

Mora 2000, Or for that price, get two or three. Also check out JKKnives here on the forums

I have a helle harding and it's a great knife. 4 in straightbacked drop point with convex scandi grind. Laminated as well, great user and a conversation piece with the multicoloured wood and leather spacers. I really like the brass stud pommel that goes through the sheath flap for retention.
If you can afford it you will like it.
