currently i carry a tanto point cold steel voyager, and i must say i have been very impressed by this knife. i have, however, been considering a fixed blade everyday carry knife. i have not bought a new knife in years and i have fallen a bit behind as far as names go so i thought you guys could help. anyhow here the specs
-thin blade maybe 3/32" or less?
-non threatening, self defense is not an issue here
-no strict requirements on blade steel, just lots of carbon
-flat or hollow grind
-drop point preferbally, but others will work
-inexpensive (hopefully under 50)

the ideal knife shape i am thinking about is the anso hybrid or those old grohman camp knives, but i thought i would hit you guys up for some suggestions.
thank you much

If you would be willing to up the limit just a bit you could get a Crawford drop point neck knife. They list for $95, but I seem to remember buying one for less at a knife show. You could also check out buying one second hand from another member.

What that gets you is a very nice custom made knife for a little more than a production piece. It is small, very useful, and can be carried in a few different ways. The obvious would be around the neck, but it would also be comfortable in a pocket, or with a Tek-Lok addition could be clipped on a belt.

Look no further then a Bark River Knife and Tool mini or micro canadien. a2 tool steel, totally non-threatening, drop point blade, lots of options as far as handle materials. Trust me you will love them.
sorry I don't have a link for you but a google search should get ya where you need to go.

Under $50... Becker Necker is a great knife. Problems I see, it doesn't come with a Tek-lok so that adds a few more dollars if that's what you want. Carbon steel needs to be looked after.

I also have the Spyderco Moran drop point. The handle has a nice swell to it so it may not be what you're looking for if you want a thin (profile) knife, but it is a great knife and holds a damn good edge. Nice and lightweight. Does come with Tek-Lok. Can be found for about your price requirements searching.

Above that, I'm sure the BM 210 would be a great knife :)

to help me understand, why would one EDC a fixed blade (in the city i assume)?
I have little experience with fixed blades but I cant think of any city tasks that one would want a fixed blade for. It seems like most folders are strong enough even for farm tasks. Could you enlighten me?
