Hey folks, I'm in need of some assistance from the Buck crowd. My Grandpa is 82 years old and carries a Buck 3739 (I think that's the number) 3 bladed Stockman. He wants to stick with Buck, but wants something bigger. Is there s larger Stockman model? I've looked online and am still a bit confused. This is the only thing my Grandpa has ever told me he's wanted or needed in the 33 years I've known him. Thank you in advance!

He is carrying the imported version of the Buck model 303. He wants the 301 sized version which would be a 371. They both have wooden scales. But, let me suggest you get him the American made version the 301. It comes in the long time standard black sawcut scale version and if your lucky you can find one in the Chairman version with wooden scales with the backside having Chuck Bucks signature. They should come in the yellow Buck box with the American Flag on one end. The Idaho made 301 will be a few dollars more than the imported version but he may appreciate the U.S.A. stamp on the tang of the main blade. You can skim thru the photo section at the top of the Buck Forum home page and there will be some 301s displayed

Largest stockman Buck currently makes is the 301 (USA made) and 371 (China made) both at 3 7/8 inches closed.

They made a larger one, I'm not sure on the model number ... 307? You can find them on the used market.

AFH,

I thought of talking about a 307, and there are several on the bay but high priced. But, looking at the calendar I was not sure he could find a good one at a good price and get it shipped to him before Christmas. It may be tough to get a 301 from a online seller in time as it is. The Buck store could do it but you pay full price. I was hoping he had someplace like a major sporting goods store he could just go a buy it. Will see. 300

Exactly what I was after, I'm glad I thought to ask here. Thank you gentlemen!

I just placed an order with a reputable online dealer. It should arrive by the 22nd with free shipping. They were out of the Rosewood. I ended up withthe Vox handles. I think it's exactly what he's wanting.

Congratulations on finding a Buck 301 (just in time) - it is great when you can get your Granddad something he really wants. Merry Christmas! OH

Murph, glad you visited us in the Buck Forum. If your Grandfather is like my Father in Law. He'll misplace it. So, if he likes it, give thought to a replacement. Best wishes, DM

The Ivory Micarta BCCI 301 with BG-42 blade steel is an option in this category:

Just thought I'd comment that I enjoyed seeing the forum quick to assist a fellow forum member with timely, good advice and suggestions. Would surely be a pleasant surprise if our govt would even come close to working this well together to accomplish something.

:)

Again, the help was greatly appreciated. You guys are a great resource and a credit to this respective forum. Grandpa was very surprised that someone was paying attention to his request and he was extremely happy with the knife. I'm sure this will prove a handy tool around the farm. He wouldn't pose for a picture because "I reckon I don't need to be on the Internet. Never been on it before.".
