My late husband had this Buck Ranger 112 for many years. I seem to remember he had it when we were dating in the 70's.

I saw some for sale on eBay and they were talking about 2 or 3 dots and his did not have any dots.
So then I did a search on this forum and narrowed it down a bit but I'm not sure what version it is.
I think it's a category 2 from 1972-1974. I've got the box and leather sheath but no papers.

I don't have any idea what wood it is. Can anybody help with a positive ID?

Hi Laurie I am not a Buck expert but I have one so this interested me. Did you see the post below? If you scroll down, there is a chart that seems to be saying that your knife, with just 'Buck' and no symbols or dots, would be 1961 - 67?

Looks like Macassar ebony, the Segua wood is usually much lighter.

I'll see if I can find/take a photo...here's my Segua 112

Yours says:
Buck
112
U.S.A.

That would put it 1972-1986 based on the chart posted above.

But before 1974 with no dots.

…so 1972 or 1973

This is a much more detailed listing of the 112s. It is found in the 'stickies' above in this forum.

A good friend of my late husband Stan used to kid people saying
" Has anyone told you what a fine outstanding job you've been doing lately? "

Later, I realized that sometimes he was serious in saying it because many people are never given a compliment.

What a GREAT forum! Thank you very much!

Laurie
