Need Help With Identification Please...

My late husband had this Buck Ranger 112 for many years. I seem to remember he had it when we were dating in the 70's.

I saw some for sale on eBay and they were talking about 2 or 3 dots and his did not have any dots.
So then I did a search on this forum and narrowed it down a bit but I'm not sure what version it is.
I think it's a category 2 from 1972-1974. I've got the box and leather sheath but no papers.

I don't have any idea what wood it is. Can anybody help with a positive ID?

Hi Laurie I am not a Buck expert but I have one so this interested me. Did you see the post below? If you scroll down, there is a chart that seems to be saying that your knife, with just 'Buck' and no symbols or dots, would be 1961 - 67?

dots and stripes on a 112 ?!?

I am a newby collector of Buck knives and prefer collecting the Buck 112 and 500 I am looking to add one nice 112 FG and ordinary 112, but can't seem to find out what would be the best to go for.. There are 1, 2, 3, 4, non-dots and some have the solid wood scales instead of the laminated...

Looks like Macassar ebony, the Segua wood is usually much lighter.

I'll see if I can find/take a photo...here's my Segua 112

That would put it 1972-1986 based on the chart posted above.

But before 1974 with no dots.

…so 1972 or 1973

112 Ranger data sheet

As requested, here is the latest 112 data sheet from Buck. It was last updated in spring of 2009. Please if you see anything that does not seem right, let me know. There is still a lot of work left on the 112. Most likely it will eventually use the same nomenclature as the 110 data sheet but for...
