I'm looking for a good cleaver for 100 dollars or less. Here are my preferred dimensions. 8" blade, 4"-up handle, 3-4" wide blade. One of the primary uses of this knife is to chop bone so it should be pretty hefty. thanks for the help!

Check if Forschner makes one. I have bought many Forschner kitchen knives, and I've found them to be an excellent value, and a good knife.

My primary tip is to get a carbon steel (rather than stainless) cleaver. Chopping bone is likely to chip stainless. Russell Harrington makes a carbon steel cleaver under their Dexter brand. It may not have an 8" blade but it is reasonably heavy. Try restaurant supply stores. For bigger cleavers you can a pretty good deal at flea markets or antique malls. A big old butcher's cleaver lasts forever.

Yes, www.dexter-russell.com is a major supplier to the butcher trade. They have various size cleavers depending on how big the bones are .I'Ve had a couple for years. They are carbon steel. See your local restaurent supply.
