So I've been thinking about getting into knifemaking, and I'm going to order a Scout Bowie kit from Brisa, craft a handle for it and make a kydex sheath when school starts again. (Yes, knifemaking at school. I love Finland.) The handle part I have figured out, but I don't know about the sheath.
Now, I know that I want the sheath to be lefty and I want the clip to be above the handle. I've thought about making one of those sheaths where you fold the kydex and cut out the fold after forming the kydex to the knife and the sheath looks like it's made from two parts, but I think I'd make the fold first without the knife in it, then heat up the top layer of kydex and form that to the blade, leaving the other side flat. Also, the back would be elongated to make a good place to mount the clip. Can this be done?

It can be. You may get a bit of edge twisting, but if it's gonna be trimmed anyway, I don't see a problem with it.
