I'm deciding between two moras:

Ericksson #510 Puuko

or

Ericksson #1 Puuko

If someone has exprience with those models and can give pros and cons.

I will use it basically for hunting and hiking.

Thanks

Well, personally, I would consider one with a rubber grip so it doesn't get slippery when wet. However, between the two, I think the 510 is better, because wood has all kinds of problems associated with it.

Hey Guys..

Go witth the 510..

Awesome knife and you don't have to worry about the handle...

The 510 is probably my favorite knife of all time (so far), or at least in the top three. It feels great, the carbon steel is awesome and they're lightweight. The knife is just about perfect.

I don't have a 510, but I do have a 511. It's a great knife. BUT, I'll take wood over plastic any day. So, my choice of the knives you listed is the #1 (I happen to prefer the #2 because of my bigs hands, though). That said, you can't really go wrong either way.

I have and use both, get the 510.

The handle is better and so is the sheath. I have a hard time keeping the #1 in it's sheath, with the round smooth wood handle it wants to pop out alot.

The 510 SNAPS into it's sheath very good and stays put, but comes out easy when you want it.

Ditto!!!!!!!!!!

Or you can do what I did...... buy about 15 different Moras...... whittle it down to your favorite three..... and give the rest away as gifts;)

Good luck:thumbup:

The wood handled ones generally have a tang at least as long as the blade, the plastic handled ones generally don't.

I'd get the Frost Mora #2 with a 4.25" laminated blade or a Frost Mora #1 with a 3-3/4" laminated blade. They are a $14 to $15 investment plus shipping. You can then rehandle it when you feel like.

Unless you are around a lot of saltwater and need stainless, the laminated carbon blades are about the best Mora blade you can get.
